QUESTION 8 (7 marks)

Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of temperature on the equilibrium formed during the decomposition of hydrogen iodide (HI).

2HI(g)⇌H2(g)+I2(g) ∆H = +53.6 kJ mol−1\mathrm{2HI(g)}\rightleftharpoons\mathrm{H}_{2}\mathrm{(g)}+\mathrm{I}_{2}\text{(g) ∆}\mathrm{H}\,=\,+\text{53.6 kJ mol}^{-1}
